What Do You Know About Florida Beach Hotels?
What comes to mind when you hear the phrase ‘Florida beach hotels’? Most people probably think of the same thing, a nice, clean, new hotel with room service and within a few hundred feet of the beach in Miami, Orlando, or the Keys. But, if you ever want to go on vacation or take a road trip to Florida, you might want to know a little bit more about Florida beach hotels than the stereotype. For instance, not all hotels on the beach are nice; there are several Florida beach hotels which rate two stars or less like the La Quinta Inn in Daytona Beach or the Fort Lauderdale Beach Palace. So don’t think just because you have a hotel on the beach it’s a nice one. Do your research! Some sites that may be helpful if you’re researching Florida beach hotels are www.beachdirectory.com and www.bythebeach.com. Unlike what the stereotype suggests, there is a very wide range of Florida beach hotels, fitting anyone’s needs. From the average Joe who’s going on a road trip with his family, to the newlywed couple on a honeymoon, to a group of young kids going on spring break. There are hundreds of hotels in Florida, many within walking distance, if not on the beach. Hotel prices range anywhere from $59/night (Daytona Beach; La Quinta Inn) to $600/night (Miami; Donald Trump International Resort). Florida beach hotels may be found as far north as Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville and as far south as Key West. February through November are the cheapest times to go to Florida. Less people are vacationing than in the summer and rates for not only hotels but airlines are often less expensive. There are pros and cons to staying in a Florida beach hotel. First are the obvious pros: the convenience of being able to walk to the beach and back to the comfort of your own room within a couple of minutes, the relaxation, and beautiful sunsets. Beachfront hotels save time, not having to drive to the beach and park your car, also many Florida beach hotels have private beaches so they are not nearly as crowded and are better kept than a public beach. Although one may not be aware of it, there can be downsides to Florida beach hotels too. Often, you can’t get the best of both worlds as far as the convenience of the beach and the convenience of the city. For example, it is quite rare that you will be able to find a beach front hotel where you can walk to the beach and also walk to the city. More often than not, if you are staying on the beach you will have to drive to get to restaurants, shopping, etc. Also, Florida beach hotels have the tendency to be geared towards an older crowd, there are minimal activities for young children to do, and kids may not be as content on the beach all day as adults are. Overall, I, as well as many travel agents, would recommend a beachfront hotel if you are looking for a relaxing, warm, vacation. Although it may be a bit more expensive and not as convenient in the city, the benefits and convenience of the beach outweigh any cons.
